Continuing Assia’s legacy – Syrian school for orphans

Assia exploring the Fallowfield Loop in July this year

Assia Shah will be much missed by all who knew her for her warmth, enthusiasm, love of nature and passion for social justice.

She was a committed campaigner for many causes and charities during her life. These included support for a school for orphans in Syria, near the border with Turkey.

Her family and close friends have set up a donation page to aid this project in Assia’s name, with a target of raising £5,000 – for more information or to make a donation, visit the page here.

Assia Shah

Whalley Range Labour Party has been devastated to learn of the loss of our comrade and friend Assia, who died yesterday after a very sudden illness.

The thoughts of us all are with her family at this incredibly sad time. The branch executive committee has delivered messages of condolence on behalf of all the members of this branch.

2019 Manifesto

Manchester Labour asked the people what mattered to them and in Manchester caring for the most vulnerable is our key priority. We used the 2017 Labour Party Manifesto to create something radical and this one builds on the promises we made a year ago and the progress we have made in delivering those promises.  This is the manifesto

We’re continuing this year with strong and radical promises about the work we will do to create a better city.

Councillor Angeliki Stogia, who spoke in favour of the motion (link here to view her speech), says “Greater transparency from developers is important, if people are to have confidence in the planning process and reassured that new housing developments in the city centre can deliver benefits to the whole population, including access to more affordable housing”.
