**BREAKING NEWS** Joe Biden quits the 2024 presidential race!

Joe biden has sensationally quit the US Presidential race, after mounting pressure from Senators, House Representatives, donors and supporters. It comes after an increasingly frail Biden performed terribly in the head to head Presidential debate with Donald Trump, which started calls for him to stand down. At last week’s NATO summit, President Biden referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as his arch enemy the Russian President Vladimir Putin, causing huge emabarrassment.



As more Democrats lined up to urge Biden to stand down this week, the President announced that he’d contracted COVID and was taking a break from campaigning, but many observers saw this as Biden preparing his exit strategy. Biden will leave office as America’s most successful President of modern times, so in this respect his legacy of 50 years service will forever be remembered.

In a letter addressed to “my fellow Americans”, Biden said it had been the “greatest honour of my life to serve as your President”. “While it has been my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.” Biden plans to serve out the remainder of his term in office, which ends at noon on 20th January 2025.



Democratic thoughts have now turned to who will replace Biden in the race for the White House, and moments ago Joe Biden endorsed his Presidential running mate and current Vice President Kamala Harris. It remains to be seen if the race to replace Biden will be a coronation, or a contest. The Democratic National Convention to confirm their Presidential candidate and the Vice Presidential running mate, is to be held between August 19th to August 22nd.

It may be late in the day, but the leading lights of the Democratic movement, pollsters and election experts believe a new Presidential candidate will gain an immediate bounce in the polls, and there will still be time for them to campaign effectively.



In terms of the other potential Presidential runners and riders, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and California Governor Gavin Newsom will definitely be in the shake up if there is indeed to be a contest to replace President Joe Biden. Gavin Newsom in particular is a very effective campaigner, and a very popular politician who the MAGA Republicans truly fear. America could do a lot worse.



Not one to miss an opportunity, Donald Trump has responded to the Biden new by saying: “Biden should never have been in the race. He’s the worst president in the history of the United States by far. There has never been a President who has done such damage to our country. From energy independence to letting in millions and millions of illegal immigrants.”

Trump’s Vice Presidential running mate JD Vance, also went on the attack calling Biden “The worst President of my lifetime”, whilst also calling for him to step down immediately.

UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer paid tribute to Joe Biden, and more tributes have been pouring in from a host of world leaders. Quite how Biden’s announcement will affect polling, remains to be seen. America is suddenly in a state of flux, but many moderates firmly believe that President Joe Biden has truly shown the great statesman he is, by putting America before himself.
