The Whalley Range Labour Party will hold its first Ward meeting since the period of purdah, at 19.30 on Monday 15 July 2024 at Whalley Range Cricket & Lawn Tennis Club, Kingsbrook Rd, Manchester M16 8NR.
Purdah is the pre-election period in the United Kingdom between the announcement of an election and the formation of the new elected government, where we’re not allowed to meet. It affects civil servants, who must be politically impartial, preventing central and local government from making announcements about any new or controversial government initiatives that could be seen to be advantageous to any candidates or parties in the forthcoming election.
Our Councillors Aftab Razaq, Bano and Angeliki Stogia will give status reports regarding important Manchester City Council business, and also on the agenda will be Labour’s General Election win, resolutions for the Labour Party National Conference in September, Rusholme Constituency business, and the exciting future plans for the Whalley Range Labour Party in light of Labour’s General Election win. This promises to be a lively affair, with a post General Election Celebration to round off the evening!
These are important times, and we have a lot of work to do to repair the broken Britain the Tories have left us. We will of course keep you updated of the meeting outcomes in due course.
