Local councillor Angeliki Stogia recently met with the Rosgal’s gully cleansing team, who are contracted by Manchester City Council to clean gullies across the city. The team has been hard at work clearing all the gullies along Alexandra Road South, an essential task that helps keep our streets safe by reducing flood risk, preventing pooled water, puddles, and blockages.
As we approach the wetter months, ensuring that our drainage systems are functioning effectively is key to minimizing hazards and making the streets more accessible for everyone. By addressing blockages, the risk of water build-up on the roads is greatly reduced.
Cllr Angeliki said, “ I know many residents have been frustrated by the pooled water on Alexandra Road South. That’s why we are working closely with Manchester City Council and our contractors to get the basics right. This work is making the streets safer for pedestrians, people on bikes, and motorists alike, while also enabling more people to enjoy Alexandra park. Together, we are ensuring Whalley Range is a cleaner, greener, and healthier place for all.”
Residents are encouraged to report blocked drains or other highways problems to help keep Whalley Range safe, clean, and resilient to adverse weather conditions. To report a blocked drain, or any highways or pavement problems please click here:
