The popular post office on Egerton Road South, just round the corner from the St Werburgh’s Road Metrolink stop, is now a fully-fledged Main Post Office. Councillor Mary Watson recalls that not so long ago local people were worried that the post office would be closing. She said “With the support of local residents and our MP, the post office was kept open and continues to thrive. The improvements are great and I’m sure that there is more to come”.
To cut the ribbon and declare the new post office open were our MP, Rt Hon Sir Gerald Kaufman, the Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Naeem ul Hassan JP, and Whalley Range councillors Mary Watson and Aftab Razaq. More importantly, the very first customers from when the sub post office opened many years ago were also there to celebrate.
