Shaping the future of Whalley Range

Community groups come together to envision Whalley Range in five years

On 29 November, the Whalley Range Community Forum brought together a wide range of local groups and residents to discuss priorities for the next five years and explore how the community can work collectively to improve our area.

A mix of long-established organisations and newer community voices took part in the development session, reflecting the depth of local commitment to shaping a positive future for Whalley Range. Participants shared ideas and explored actions across themes that attrected the most attention, including:

  • Better public transport that meets the needs of Whalley Range
  • Action on the environment and climate
  • Safer homes, streets and walking routes
  • Mediation, dialogue and ways to resolve local disputes
  • Child-friendly spaces and opportunities
  • Culture, arts and creativity
  • Bringing people together through food and shared activities

A broad set of ideas and suggested next steps was gathered, which will help guide future community work and collaboration with local partners.

Councillor Angeliki Stogia said: “Whalley Range has a long tradition of community-led action. Seeing many local groups come together with such energy and commitment shows how much we can achieve when we work collectively. I am proud to support this work and excited for what we can build together now and in the years to come.”

Whalley Range residents who would like to get involved in any of these areas, or learn more about the discussions and next steps, are welcome to get in touch.
