Following the sad death of Sir Gerald Kaufman in late February, there will be a by-election for Sir Gerald’s parliamentary seat here in Manchester Gorton constituency, to be held on Thursday 4th May (the same date as the election for Mayor of the GM Combined Authority). Labour members in Manchester Gorton have selected Afzal Khan MEP as their candidate. Afzal says:
“Even with the unfair Tory cuts to our budget, Manchester is a vibrant city that is progressing all the time. Your Labour representatives have worked hard to ensure that the city is a great place to live. There is a lot more to do, and that is why I would work hard to speak up for Manchester in Parliament, carrying on the good work of Gerald Kaufman“.
