Whalley Range Labour - Councillor Mary Watson at Election Count

Labour’s Mary Watson’s election message

Mary Watson is Labour’s candidate for Whalley Range ward in the local elections in Manchester, which are on Thursday 22nd May. She says:

“I love Manchester and I love Whalley Range. I came to live in Manchester many years ago and have lived very happily with my family in Whalley Range for most of the time since. I was first elected as Labour Councillor for our area eight years ago and I’m very proud that I’ve been selected again for this year’s election. This is a challenging time for Manchester and in tough economic times I will make sure that Manchester Labour will continue to put Manchester people first. If you elect me again, I will continue working with and supporting our local groups and projects.

We need better streets and pavements, like the newly re-surfaced Park Drive, Burford Road and Withington Road. I’ll try to make this happen. Safer roads are important for all – old or young; cyclists or pedestrians so I also plan to get the 20mph speed limit near to our schools extended to all of our residential streets.

I promise to go on working closely with our Neighbourhood Police Team especially to address the problem of burglary in our area. We can all help by reporting our concerns to them – 101 is the number to ring. Finally, I will continue to be available to listen to your concerns and take up any issues you may have. If you want a hard working Councillor to represent our area, vote Labour, and for me, on the 22nd of May.“
