GMP holding public consultation event in Whalley Range

GMP holding public consultation in Whalley Range

Aftab Razaq, Angeliki Stogia and Muqaddasah Bano, the three Whalley Range Labour councillors, are frequently in contact with Greater Manchester Police (GMP) about issues which have been raised with them by local residents.

Now, GMP are carrying out a wide ranging public consultation on their neighbourhood policing. This includes an online survey which all members of the public are invited to complete, and a number of public events to be attended by senior police officers. One of these will be held next week in Whalley Range at the British Muslim Heritage Centre (BMHC, College Road, Whalley Range, Manchester, M16 8BP) on Tuesday 8 March at 7pm (concluding at 9pm).

More details about the consultation are in the following GMP statement:

On 1 February 2022, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) launched a Neighbourhood Policing Consultation that offers the people of Greater Manchester the opportunity to directly tell us what they want to see from our neighbourhood policing function. This is part of the action GMP is taking to fulfil the public promises made by Chief Constable Stephen Watson when he launched our Plan on a Page last September.

We’re inviting members of the public to attend public consultation events where they can provide their views on what they want to see from our neighbourhood policing function. Neighbourhood policing is a crucial part of the future of policing in Greater Manchester, and the results of the public consultation will influence how we police and work together in our community for years to come. A policing consultation of this scale is something that hasn’t taken place in Greater Manchester for some time so represents a once in a generation opportunity to significantly influence the approach to neighbourhood policing for our communities.
