Some local residents have asked about the future of the old Chorlton Baths on Manchester Road. Whalley Range and Chorlton Labour Councillors are pleased to report that the City Council are in a dialogue with the Unicorn Grocery as an adjacent landowner, along with a social housing provider, to bring forward a residential and retail mixed use development on the former Chorlton Leisure Centre site.
These discussions are ongoing and, if they are successfully concluded, proposals will be brought to the City Council’s Executive this summer.

Chorlton baths is a symbol of the Chorlton community, a place for friends and family to meet.
We have examples very close to us that take iconic buildings and restore them for the benefit and well being of the community.
For example in Heaton Moor they have recently opened a community cinema which is a viable cinema.
I propose the same. Chorlton Baths would make a wonderful cinema. Would you support an initiative like this?

Hi Brigitta, the Baths are actually located in Chorlton ward so in the first instance it may be better to get in touch with the Chorlton Councillors. Is there an organisation that has a proposal to carry out such a project? Would it be feasible?
